Bishop. Dr. Alvin R. Bailey is the Senior Pastor of the Portmore Holiness Christian Church.
He is married to Vivette with two outstanding daughters Antoinette and Andrean, who are graduates of the Universities of Pennsylvania and University of Technology, Jamaica.
The Bishop Dr. Alvin Bailey is a graduate of:
- The Columbia Theological Seminary (Atlanta, USA) where he completed his Doctoral studies in Ministries & New Church Development.
- The Caribbean Graduate School of Theology and holds a Masters in the Caribbean Ministries.
- The University of Technology with diplomas in Engineering & an Associate degree in Industrial Management
- The Haggai Institute in Singapore with certificates in Advance Leadership & Evangelism.
He began Ministry in Portmore in February 1996, heading the team that planted the now Portmore Holiness Christian Church – Worship Centre & Multipurpose Outreach Centre
Bishop Bailey’s Involvement:
- He has been a former National Director of Evangelism and a former Presiding Bishop for his denomination.
- He is President of the former Jamaica Association of Evangelicals now Jamaica Evangelical Alliance.
- He has been recently appointed as Vice President of the National Religious Liberty Association.
- He has also been elected Second Vice President for the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean (EAC) at the 2015 General Assembly.
- Bishop Dr. Alvin Bailey has been very active in the Spiritual & Social life of the Community of Portmore. He continues to serve the people and communities of Portmore and currently serves as:
- Chairman of the Portmore Ministers’ Fraternal
- Member of the Board of the Kensington Primary School
- Head of the Counseling Department of P.A.R.E.N.T.S.- the Social Outreach arm of the Portmore Holiness Christian Church
- He is a Counselor and a Marriage Officer

The Portmore Holiness Christian Church (PHCC) commenced on February 11, 1996. Since then it has been aggressively engaged in Evangelism and Ministry to the community of Greater Portmore and beyond.
