Description:
The area where The Firefly Estate now stands was once called the “Look Out” by the infamous pirate and one time governor Henry Morgan for its advantegous location to the ports. The property was then purchased and built in 1956 by the Britsh Playwright Noel Coward in the 1950s after he left the United Kingdom for tax reasons. His expatriate neighbour on the island was noted James Bond writer, Ian Fleming and he entertained an array of celebrities and noted polticians.Named after the glowing flying insects that can be seen on property, The Firefly Estate was Coward’s home when he died in 1973 at the age of 73. He was buried on his favourite spot and a monument erected. It is now a well known tourist destination.
