Mico Practising Primary and Junior High School stands as one of Jamaica’s most respected educational institutions, known for academic excellence, innovation, and teacher training. Situated at 1A Marescaux Road in Kingston, the school operates under the auspices of The Mico University College, the oldest teacher-training institution in the Western Hemisphere.
Established in 1931, Mico Practising was originally envisioned as a “model school”—a space designed for observation, experimentation, and practicum experiences for student teachers from the College. Over the decades, it has evolved into a dynamic learning environment, combining tradition with modern educational practices. While originally an All-Age institution, it now offers both primary and junior high education, serving over 1,200 students from diverse backgrounds across the Kingston Metropolitan Area.
