Island Coffees are a new company that specialises in the growing and purchase of specific brands and flavours of Jamaican Coffees. Our own brand, Strawberry Hill Blue Mountain Coffee is available. After lengthy market research, we have chosen a dark or “Full City” roast for our roast profile which is best served in a glass chemex, which allows you to enjoy the full aroma, whether a French press or a good quality drip machine will create a good cup.

How to Identify Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
True to its name, the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is grown in the Blue Mountain region of Jamaica, in between Kingston mostly in the south and Port Maria in the north. Rising to 7,500 ft, the Blue Mountain Range is the highest point in the Caribbean, however the highest coffee growing regions range between 3000 ft – 5200 ft. This broad band consists of a cold, damp and dark, fertile soil and good drainage, providing ideal conditions for growing coffee.
After suffering the effect of Hurricane Sandy in 2014, the Blue Mountain coffee industry went through some troubled times with coffee rust and inter dealer price purchase warring resulting in high box prices. Now in 2017 the coffee industry has expanded and prices from the farmer are dropping and we all hope to see a reduction in the retail cost to the consumer soon.
Now more than ever it is critical that the Logo indicated at the top of this page or the wording “Jamaican Blue Mountain “ is on the packaging of the coffee that you buy.
A few companies have produced Blue Mountain coffee with the word Blend in it – the price is 1/2 of the 100% Blue Mountain coffee and is very appealing to the consumer – however you will not be drinking real Blue Mountain Coffee.
