The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) is the umbrella organization of Barbados’ doctors and medical students and its primary aim is to act in the best interests of its members and in the best interests of the medical profession.The broad objectives of the organization fall into three main categories.Trade union: to collectively and individually defend the rights of the members and secure the best possible working conditions for members of the medical profession.Policing body: To maintain and uphold standards and defend the integrity of the profession.Professional organization: to ensure input of members of the medical profession in the formulation of national health policy in Barbados, assist in the promotion and improvement of health standards, sponsor medical conferences and seminars and encourage research and maintain ties with other relevant bodies.
