CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (GMG/SEG 6)

The Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ) invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, results-oriented and transformational individuals for the position of Chief Executive Officer. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership, ensure the effective management of PBCJ’s operations, and advance its mandate of public broadcasting services for the benefit of the people of Jamaica.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Leading the strategic development and implementation of PBCJ’s vision, mission and corporate objectives in line with the Public Broadcasting Act.
• Providing oversight for the formulation and execution of content strategies and ensuring high standards of creative and journalistic integrity across radio, television and digital platforms.
• Managing the day-to-day operations, human resources, and financial performance of the Corporation.
• Maximizing revenue streams through innovative approaches to content monetization, partnerships and business development.
• Driving the adoption of new technologies, digital transformation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and governance frameworks.
• Cultivating strong stakeholder relationships with Government agencies, advertisers, audiences, media partners and international broadcasters.
• Representing PBCJ domestically and internationally, and championing its role as a trusted national institution.
• Creating a culture of excellence, innovation and accountability within the organization.
• Monitoring and evaluating performance, and submitting regular reports to the Board of Directors.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• A master’s degree in Communications, Media Management, Business Administration, Journalism, or a related field. A doctoral degree would be an asset.
• Minimum 15 years of senior management experience, preferably in media/broadcasting, or a publicly funded or commercial entity.
• Demonstrated leadership in a complex and dynamic organization, with evidence of strategic vision and effective execution.
• Experience in managing content development, broadcast and digital media operations is an asset.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Copyright, Data Protection, Freedom of Information) and corporate governance principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and sustain high-performing teams.
• Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in stakeholder and public sector engagement is an asset.
• Proven ability to drive innovation, digital transformation and audience growth in a competitive media environment.

Remuneration and Benefits:

In accordance with the PBCJ Compensation Policy, Management Scheme (GMG) SEG 6 ($11,225,942 per annum) and other benefits.
