What is needed to get a TRN in Jamaica?
Consular - Application for Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)
The Tax Payer Registration Number (TRN) is a unique nine-digit number required by each taxpayer, business enterprise and organization that will transact business with any Revenue Department in Jamaica.
To obtain a TRN number, individuals must complete a TRN application form (click here to download form in pdf format *) and submit it along with any of the following:
- Certified copy of their passport or driver’s licence;
- National identification, Work ID or School ID;
- Certified passport-sized photograph;
- Any other photographic identification accompanied by a birth certificate.
Sole proprietors and companies must submit their NIS card and Business Name Registration, as well as the individual TRN & NIS number for each partner or director.

It is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment for individuals and businesses conducting transactions with a Revenue Department not to register for a TRN.
