MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, calibrate, maintain, inspect and repair medical equipment, such as ECG machines, cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, ultrasound machines, defibrillators, patient monitors and other clinical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.
• Diagnose and correct equipment and system malfunctions using troubleshooting techniques.
• Provide recommendations on the purchase, replacement or discontinuation of medical equipment.
• Review preventive maintenance outcomes and make recommendations to the supervisor.
• Provide technical assistance and instructions to staff on proper equipment operation and maintenance.
• Assist with in-service training programmes on the safe and effective use of equipment.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be HEART Trust certified in a relevant technical field.
• 1–2 years’ relevant experience required.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instrumentation.
• Technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to work on a shift or on-call system.
