In order to secure financing for regular loans, the borrower has to satisfy a number of requirements.  He/she must own a viable business and be directly responsible for the management of that business, meet the credit and collateral requirements and be willing to accept training and technical services.  Collateral items may vary from land/building to cash on fixed deposits, motor vehicles or a person or company who will pledge security on behalf of the borrower. The NDFJ will finance businesses in agriculture, manufacturing and services.

To become eligible for Micro Loans the borrower must be a Jamaican and own and operate a viable business for at least six months.   The borrower must also meet other credit requirements and be willing to accept training and technical services.  We may accept household appliances and business equipment, in good condition, as well as motor vehicles with or without comprehensive insurance coverage as collateral.  Additionally, the borrower must provide two guarantors who are employed or self-employed (in his/her own business).

Rural Entrepreneurs Assistance Programme (REAP)is a new approach to micro-financing, supported by training, mentoring and coaching, aimed at increasing employment and improving the economy of communities that have been impacted by failure of banana cultivation (as a main crop) and the closure of bauxite production plants. The programme is geared to impact entrepreneurs from communities who operate far from urban centers, and who lack access to information, financing and training.

Persons must meet all the requirements of NDFJ.
