Description:
Archer’s Hall Design Centre offers a unique selection of classic, versatile furnishings and accessories that reflect the simple refinement of West Indian living.
We are known for our retail store and for our Interior Design services. We design and install interiors for a variety of luxury homes, residential and commercial developments, resort villas and turnkey interiors for exclusive resort hotels. Our portfolio page may be viewed for a complete photo gallery.
“As individual as you are” is the basis of our design concepts and purchasing for the store. We focus on unique items from the eclectic to contemporary to the traditional and understated. Nature plays a big role in the influence of colour selections and overall interior presence.
Our design palette comes from the natural landscape of Barbados and the islands of the Caribbean. We work with colours and themes that compliment the many shades of the turquoise Caribbean sea, pink coral limestone and thick, green foliage. It is a balancing act between allowing the surroundings to speak with the interiors and not compete against it.
Our store in Speightstown stocks very unique and beautiful pieces of furniture, occasional and functional, indoor and outdoor. We also carry a high quality and affordable selection of gift items, florals, lamps, artwork, picture frames, vases, dining table accessories and candles. Our accessories are practical beauty!
Historical Information on Archer’s Hall and Speightstown
In the 1700’s the Archer’s Hall building was a theatre and saloon, and in more recent times it was a sugar bond, used to store sugar and molasses produced in the northern plantations for shipping to England. As a point of interest, the original rafters in the building were taken from an old ship, and you can still see the carpenter’s roman numerals chiselled into the timbers.
Located along the north-west coast of Barbados, Speightstown is one of the islands major towns and boasts a long and intriguing history. The area of Speightstown was the first major port and commercial centre of Barbados.
Much of the character of Speightstown can be found in its architecture – historic buildings dating back to the early settlement of Barbados alongside modern buildings reflecting a developing nation – and in its people – the sidewalk vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, the fishermen unloading their catch along the jetty, local characters hanging out at the Esplanade and friendly sales staff in modern shops and restaurants. The town has undergone a renaissance of sorts and is once again an active and vibrant town while still maintaining a colonial charm.
