Our client invites applications for the position of:

General Manager, Micro-finance

Our client is seeking an accomplished, commercially focused leader to serve as General Manager to direct our client’s operations and manage resources as well as guide the company through its next phase of sustainable growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for overall leadership of day-to-day operations, financial performance, and regulatory compliance as well as expanding market reach while maintaining a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s strategy and annual operating plans to achieve growth, profitability, operational excellence, and long-term organisational success.
  • Prepare and present Board reports on revenue, expenditure, and financial performance against budget, monitor and drive corrective action when targets are at risk.
  • Oversee daily operations, lending processes, customer service, and collections.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Bank of Jamaica regulations, anti-money laundering laws, and internal credit policies.
  • Identify new market opportunities, design competitive loan products for micro and small enterprises, and build community partnerships.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing management team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellent service.
  • Identify, engage, and prepare high-potential employees for key roles.
  • Liaise with the Sales and Marketing Manager to implement programmes and marketing campaigns to promote products and services to ensure market awareness and client retention within the loan portfolio.

Preferred Profile

  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Banking or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ in a senior management position, within a Micro-Finance or credit-based organisation.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
  • Keen understanding of the business’ core and support functions including but not limited to Credit, Collections, Finance, Operations, HR Management and Information Technology.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, performance/operations metrics, IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities and people development skills.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling and resource management skills.
  • High process orientation with exemplary work ethics and the ability to perform under pressure.
