COST ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize cost information in an expense database
• Develop systems to accumulate and monitor financial data
• Calculate fixed and variable costs, including monthly purchases
• Prepare budgets and reports for multiple departments
• Review receipts and compare them with actual charges to identify inaccuracies
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual cost forecasts
• Analyze month-end and year-end reports and recommend cost-saving improvements

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a cost accountant, analyst or in a related role
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks
• Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel, data entry and calculations
• Excellent analytical, organizational and attention-to-detail skills
• Proven time-management skills and the ability to work under strict deadlines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics
• Experience with activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs and determining the direct cost of product lines
