Cashier in Kingston

Location: Kingston

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) CSEC/CXC subjects, including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Two to three years’ experience in a cashier, finance support or customer service role.
  • Experience using POS systems, QuickBooks or similar accounting software is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process customer payments by cash, cheque, debit/credit card and electronic payment methods.
  • Issue receipts and accurately record all transactions using the POS system and/or QuickBooks.
  • Balance the cash register and reconcile daily cash collections at the end of each shift.
  • Prepare daily cash summaries, transaction reports and bank deposit slips.
  • Maintain an adequate cash float while ensuring the proper safeguarding of cash and negotiable instruments.
  • Record daily collections and financial transactions accurately in approved accounting systems.
  • Assist with payment reconciliations, customer payment records and accounts receivable activities.
  • Verify supporting documentation for all payments received.
  • Maintain organised financial records that are accurate and audit-ready.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while resolving payment enquiries professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies, cash-handling procedures and internal controls.
  • Support the Finance Department with administrative, reporting and other assigned duties.
