WE ARE HIRING

AIRPORT PAINTER

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this individual performs skilled work in airfield, taxiway and apron markings, painting of the interior and exterior of buildings, roadways, curb walls, fixtures, signs and various equipment. Duties include the application of paint to a variety of surfaces using a brush, roller, spray gun and linelazer equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
  • Valid General Driver’s Licence.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ commercial/industrial painting experience.
  • HEART/NSTA Trust Certification in Painting.
  • Experience in drywall installation and repair will be an asset.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programmes.

Specific Knowledge, Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

  • Knowledge of the materials, equipment, methods and practices used in the maintenance of painted/coated surfaces.
  • Specialised knowledge of industrial painting techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and application of primers, paints, and finishes.
  • Strong knowledge of colour mixing and matching.
  • Knowledge of airport rules and regulations and airside safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform initial diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment and submit report to Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Ability to read and interpret work order schedules, duty rosters, and undertake work projects as well as comply with established plans and specifications.

CARPENTER

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this individual has the responsibility to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications, maintaining an environmentally-friendly and safe airport. This individual will conduct repair works, installation, drywall, finishing and maintain fixtures and fittings within the building in a 24-hour operational environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of an upper secondary education or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in carpentry and drywall installation and repairs.
  • National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica in Carpentry Level 2.
  • Valid General Driver’s Licence.

Specific Knowledge, Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

  • Knowledge of carpentry materials and techniques and methods of installation, methods and practices used in maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work from oral and written directions.
  • Sound knowledge of drywall installation, plaster, finish and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant airport rules, regulations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand and comply with numerous regulations governing airside and airport security.
  • Ability to work in severe weather conditions.

FACILITIES CREW – ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this individual has the functional responsibility to maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, wiring, and electrical/electronic/electro-mechanical equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of an airport.

This may involve the installation and maintenance of lighting systems, fire alarms, security systems, power systems, and other electrical/electronic/electro-mechanical components, systems and equipment. The electrician must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose any electrical/electronic/electro-mechanical related problems that may occur.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in maintaining electrical distribution systems, electrical/electronic equipment, airfield lighting and fire detection systems.
  • Valid General Driver’s Licence.
  • Jamaican Government Electrical Regulator status of Licensed Electrician at Class/Category 3.

Specific Knowledge Required:

  • Sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical installation practices, equipment troubleshooting and repair and control wiring.
  • Sound knowledge of the use of electrical test equipment and the interpretation of test data.

FIELD & BUILDING ATTENDANT

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this individual is responsible for maintaining an environmentally-friendly and safe airport including general gardening and landscaping, asphalt repair, grounds and drain cleaning, and assisting in various skilled areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
  • An apprenticeship or on-the-job training in masonry, gardening and landscaping, painting, tiling or carpentry.
  • A valid General Driver’s Licence would be an asset.

Specific Knowledge, Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and practices used in the maintenance and repair of paved and unpaved surfaces.
  • Knowledge of airport rules and regulations and airside safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of the uses and mixing, placing and finishing of asphalt and concrete mixes.
  • Knowledge of landscaping using various equipment and tools.
  • Ability to undertake work projects, comply with established plans and specifications, as well as read and interpret work order schedules and duty rosters.
