BUSINESS ANALYST

Provide valuable insights and analytical support to drive strategic and operational decision making across our business.

The Business Analyst provides business information by various models of analysis to support both strategic and operational decision making within Massy Distribution through the effective use of information systems.

The individual will be required to identify business needs, evaluate and propose solutions to improve and/or solve business problems in consultation with stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Undertake and provide analysis of the operational activity of the business, highlighting strengths, weaknesses and suggestions for improvements.
• Interpret and analyse data extracted from various information systems across different departments.
• Perform trend analysis and other forms of analysis to identify joint opportunities, areas of synergy and best practices.
• Coordinate research initiatives (e.g. consumer, market) involving quantitative and qualitative analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Undertake financial analysis, particularly in investment appraisal.
• Support the preparation of high impact presentations and documentation on the assessment of investments.
• Provide support for annual budget reviews, strategy reviews and quarterly or monthly business reviews.
• Partner cross-functionally within the business to provide analytical support for special projects.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis, particularly for areas of concern.
• Assist in other areas of work based on the needs of the department and Company activities.
• Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures and standards, including CSMS, QHSE and BCMS.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a quantitative discipline.
• Master’s Degree in a related field would be considered an asset.

Experience

• Experience as an Analyst, with exposure to strategic planning would be considered an asset.
• Experience in managing change and multiple projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of retail, distribution, logistics and consumer finance industries.
• Strong financial and quantitative analysis skills.
• Proficient at critical and creative thinking, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong business acumen.
• Ability to travel.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of visualization software (e.g. MS Visio, SmartDraw, think-cell).
