On behalf of the family of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church it is my delight to welcome you to our parish’s Web Site. We are a community of faith located on the corner of Shirley and Church Streets, on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas. We are a member of the Diocese of The Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands, which is in the Province of the West Indies.

The Mission of St. Matthew’s Church is to be joyfully rooted in Christ through worship, education and spiritual discipline; and alive in the Spirit in Christian fellowship where our gifts are used to reveal God’s love.

We are a parish community learning to live and grow in the love of Jesus Christ and we aim to be a place where all people can encounter the love and peace of the living God. Our worship is grounded in the Anglican tradition and we value our catholic heritage. This means that here you will find rich worship, sacramental spirituality, and a strong commitment to the care of those who are in need.

Worship and Service continue to shape our identity at St. Matthew’s. Whether it’s ministries to seniors and children St. Matthew’s continues to be a beacon of hope in the community. Our response to the broader community through the generous work of many (e.g. The Social Outreach Committee etc) strengthen ties to the community and offer gifts to a world in need of love.

We have prepared this web site to help you understand the diversity of our ministries and invite your participation in our life. You can discover a lot of facts about our church on this Web site, but to really discover who we are you need to come and visit.  You will find a warm welcome as the doors of our church are open to everyone.
