What the numbers tell us
Analysis of these 44 schools only. This is not a summary of every high school in Jamaica.
How attainment is distributed
Number of schools in each percentage band · 44 total
Median school rate: 87.65%. Each school is counted once; student cohort sizes are not supplied.
A closely matched top 10
The top 10 range from 96.5% to 100.0%: a 3.5-point spread. Ranks 11–29 span 15.1 points, showing wider differences within that group.
Small gaps can separate ranks
Knox (94.8%) and Ardenne (94.7%) differ by 0.1 percentage points. Clarendon College (73.8%) and Marymount (73.7%) have the same gap despite sitting in a different attainment band.
Movement is relative
Meadowbrook rose 10 places; Knox rose seven. DeCarteret moved from #9 to #25. Without both years’ percentages, these movements cannot establish gains or losses in attainment.
Explore a what-if scenario

What would a higher rate look like?
A single historical percentage cannot support a reliable 2026 forecast. This calculator shows a conditional change only; it does not predict results or recalculate ranks.
Read the rankings in context
What is being measured?
The published methodology measures the share of a school’s Grade 11 cohort attaining at least five CSEC subjects, including English and/or Mathematics. That means English, Mathematics, or both; it is different from requiring both subjects. This is one academic attainment measure, not a complete evaluation of a school.
Which year does this cover?
These are the rankings published in 2016, with 2015 ranks supplied for the first 29 schools. The figures should not be read as 2026 examination results. Publication year is not necessarily the examination year.
How was the data prepared?
The 44 rows and one-decimal percentages follow the three supplied charts. The “Aspiring Ivy Schools” chart abbreviates its metric heading; the accompanying published methodology supplies the English and/or Mathematics definition. The original report includes additional schools outside these 44.
What can the comparisons tell us?
Gaps are percentage points, calculated by subtraction. Averages and the median describe school rates, with every school weighted equally. Cohort sizes, uncertainty estimates and a consistent series of annual results are not provided, so the figures cannot establish statistical significance or reliable future performance.
