A lovely all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions:
Chief Steward
Education and Experience
- Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage, or a related field is preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in a hotel or restaurant stewarding department.
- At least one to two years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience in an all-inclusive hotel is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of kitchen-stewarding operations and sanitation standards.
- Knowledge of food-safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP or equivalent.
- Understanding of the proper cleaning, storage and handling of kitchen equipment.
- Basic inventory and stock-control knowledge.
- Excellent leadership, communication and team-management skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and motivate the stewarding team.
- Ensure kitchen areas, equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized according to hotel standards.
- Monitor chemical usage and safe handling practices.
- Maintain inventories of cleaning supplies and stewarding equipment.
- Coordinate waste-management and recycling procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy items.
Preferred Certifications
- Food Handler’s Permit, where applicable.
- HACCP or Food-Safety Certification.
- First-Aid Certification is an asset.
Security Officer
Education and Experience
- At least three CSEC subjects, including English Language.
- Previous hotel-security or related experience is an asset.
- Customer-service experience is an advantage.
Licences and Certifications
- Valid PSRA Security Officer Licence is required.
- Valid Food Handler’s Permit.
- First-Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent observation and surveillance skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Professional appearance and demeanour.
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies.
- Good report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High levels of honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and patrol hotel premises to protect guests, staff and property.
- Control access to the hotel and restricted areas.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents and guest concerns.
- Prepare accurate incident and occurrence reports.
- Enforce hotel policies and security procedures.
- Work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overnight.
Kitchen Steward
Education and Experience
- At least three CSEC subjects are preferred.
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward or in a similar position is an asset.
- Experience in a hotel or all-inclusive resort is an advantage.
Certification
- Valid Food Handler’s Permit is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to follow health and safety standards.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual and dependable.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchens, food-preparation areas and storage rooms.
- Properly dispose of waste and maintain garbage-disposal areas.
- Assist with receiving, storing and organizing supplies.
- Ensure compliance with food-safety and hygiene standards.
- Lift heavy items and stand for extended periods.
- Work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Cost Controller
Education and Experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Two to three years of experience in cost control, accounting or inventory management.
- Hospitality or hotel-industry experience is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory or accounting software.
- Good organizational, time-management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control food, beverage and operating costs.
- Conduct inventory counts and reconcile stock variances.
- Review purchases, receiving, transfers and inventory issuance.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cost-control reports.
- Analyze cost trends and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Work closely with the Purchasing, Receiving, Kitchen, Food and Beverage, and Accounts departments.
- Work flexible hours when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hotel property-management and inventory systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of food-and-beverage cost-control principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are an advantage.
