CUSTOMS BROKER PORT CLERK JOB ADVERTISEMENT

Company Profile
Vin Leyow & Company Ltd. is a customs brokerage company that provides customs clearance services for various clients. The company is located at 133 East Street, Downtown Kingston.
Job Purpose
The company is seeking a highly organized and proficient Customs Broker Port Clerk who will be required to visit the port in person and interact with Customs regarding the clearance of shipments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- View and inspect shipments at the port with Customs agents and other regulatory authorities, such as the Ministry of Health when food is imported or the Ministry of Agriculture when inspections are required.
- Interact with shipping and warehouse agents, submit documentation and pay customs-clearance fees. Funds must be paid before inspections are conducted.
- Coordinate with other staff members to move goods from the warehouse and arrange shipment transportation.
- Maintain constant and clear communication with the office to ensure the full coordination of activities.
- Be flexible to work before or after regular working hours of 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. during peak seasons. Overtime compensation will be provided.
- Handle documentation responsibly.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have a general driver’s licence and state this in the application email.
- High school diploma with CSEC Grades I–III in Mathematics and English Language.
- At least one to two years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments.
- Proper telephone etiquette.
- Proficiency in English and Mathematics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Salary: $40,000 fortnightly gross pay
